Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Wounds & Burns support

What essential oils are good for minor burns?
Lavender holds one of the most prominent places among botanicals historically tied to skin soothing, and remains one of the most widely used essential oils for skin comfort in modern aromatherapy. The practice traces back to French chemist René-Maurice Gattefossé, who, after a laboratory accident, reportedly plunged his hand into lavender essential oil and documented the comforting sensation that followed – a moment credited with helping launch the modern field of aromatherapy.
Which lavender variety should I use?
We carry several lavender varieties, each with its own character. Our high-elevation fine (vera) lavender from a master distiller in France is Dr. Nick’s current go-to for quality and price. Our Bulgarian lavender, from a family farm that grows its own organic plants, is one of the most floral and sweet options we carry. Mt. Shasta lavender, organically cultivated on a ranch in Montague, has a soft, balanced, gentle profile. And Lavender Mailette, a French varietal, is Dr. Nick’s personal favorite – sweeter than most, with particularly high linalool content.
How should I use essential oils for skin support safely?
Essential oils are supportive botanical tools for minor, superficial skin irritation – applied diluted, typically at 1 to 2% in a carrier oil, to clean, cooled skin. They are not appropriate for anything beyond minor, superficial discomfort. For any burn involving blistering, significant surface area, or any doubt about severity, please seek immediate medical attention.
What makes this collection different from a general essential oil?
Every oil in this collection is chosen with intention, using vibrational enhancement (ORMUS and BioGeometry), and guided by a holistic-minded, retired pharmacist. Each is sourced from small-scale farmers and distillers who share that same standard for quality.
