FAQs
Vetiver essential oil is steam distilled from the roots of organic Vetiveria zizanioides, sourced from Haiti, Indonesia, or Sri Lanka depending on availability. It is one of the most deeply grounding and calming essential oils available. The distillation process requires careful attention, as the dense root material yields a thick, viscous oil with extraordinary aromatic complexity.
Vetiver has a deep, earthy, smoky aroma with warm, sweet, and slightly woody undertones. It is often described as the scent of wet earth after rain. Haitian vetiver tends to be cleaner and lighter, while Indonesian and Sri Lankan varieties can be smokier and more intense. The scent is rich and long-lasting, making it a prized base note in natural perfumery.
Vetiver is traditionally used for relaxation, stress relief, and emotional grounding. It is excellent for skin care, particularly for supporting the appearance of scars, stretch marks, and mature skin. Combine it with Helichrysum, Tamanu, and Copaiba and apply to mild scarring or recent injuries. Diffuse to promote a deeply calming environment, though it works best blended with another oil for effective diffusion since it is so thick. When diffusing, use a small percentage of vetiver and blend well so the resultant oil blend is appropriate for use in a diffuser.
Dilute at up to 15 percent in a carrier oil for topical application on skin concerns, or at 1 to 5 percent for a relaxing massage oil. Add 1 to 5 drops to a warm bath for deep relaxation and rejuvenation. For facial care, try infusing at 1 to 5 percent into your favorite clean skin care products. Due to its thickness, warming the bottle slightly before use can make it easier to work with.
Vetiver creates stunning combinations with Cedar Atlas, Copaiba, Frankincense, German Chamomile, Lavender, Muhuhu, Myrrh CO2, Palo Santo, Patchouli, Rose Absolute, Spikenard, and Royal Sandalwood. It is also a natural companion to EOW's other grounding offerings like Nagarmotha and Agarwood (Oud).

I absolutely love my Vetiver oil. Earthy and long lasting. It is said to adapt to the person wearing it, giving a unique aroma. It’s grounding and so magical how it changes from when I first put it on to when I smell it later on my clothes or hair. I get a lot of people saying I smell so good which is a plus 🙂 I highly recommend if you like a earthy musky oil with hits of sweetness that is unique to you💛

What a deep dark scent this is. The base note of base notes. I like to think about how far its roots reach when I smell this rich grass.
