EOW’s Blue Lotus collection has been a flagship offering since 2014. We were among the first to bring authentic, unadulterated Blue Lotus to the botanical community — and we’ve spent over a decade sourcing, refining, and expanding what’s possible with this sacred flower.

A note on authenticity: most “Blue Lotus oil” sold online is synthetic fragrance oil or diluted isolate. EOW works directly with a family farm in Thailand where Dr. Nick and his wife visit personally. Every product in this collection comes from those flowers.

The EOW Blue Lotus Line

Blue Lotus Absolute → Most aromatically rich. Ideal for botanical perfumery, vaporizing, product formulation, and anointing. If aroma is your priority, this is the one.

Blue Lotus Tincture → Most accessible. Full-spectrum Absolute ultrasonically infused into organic craft spirits. One drop on the wrist, the third eye, or sublingually.

Blue Lotus Resin → Most bioactive. One gram of resin represents 100 grams of flowers. The most pronounced meditative and experiential format. For experienced practitioners.

Blue Lotus Honey → From bees that feed almost exclusively from Blue Lotus pollen. Nature’s most complete expression — the bees have done the extraction for you.

Blue Lotus Flower → Dried whole petals for tea, infusions, sacred bathing, botanical smokes, and carrier oil infusions. The everyday ritual format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Blue Lotus

What is Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea)?
Blue Lotus — botanically known as Nymphaea caerulea — is a sacred water flower with roots in ancient Egyptian ceremony and Southeast Asian botanical traditions. It is prized for its calming, clarifying qualities, and has been used for centuries as a meditative and ritual aid. All of EOW’s Blue Lotus products are sourced from organically grown, wild-harvested flowers cultivated in sun-drenched ponds in Thailand, where the climate allows for harvests every few weeks year-round.
What Blue Lotus products does Essential Oil Wizardry offer?
EOW carries a complete Blue Lotus lineup spanning six formats, each offering a different experience and intensity level:

  • Blue Lotus Resin — A water-extracted 100:1 concentrate. The most potent format in the collection.
  • Blue Lotus Tincture — Blue Lotus Absolute infused in craft organic honey spirits. Rich in flavor and ceremony.
  • Blue Lotus Absolute — Pure solvent-extracted Blue Lotus aromatic oil. The most versatile format for culinary, aromatic, and topical use.
  • Blue Lotus Anointing Oil — Absolute blended into a carrier oil with Ormus for topical and aromatic wear.
  • Blue Lotus Honey — Raw honey from bees that feed almost exclusively on Blue Lotus flower pollen in Thailand.
  • Blue Lotus Flower — Organically grown, naturally dried whole flowers — the source material for the entire collection.
Is there such a thing as a true Blue Lotus essential oil?
No — and this is one of the most important things to understand before purchasing. Blue Lotus does not yield a true essential oil through steam distillation of plant material alone. What is widely sold as “Blue Lotus oil” is almost always one of two things: Blue Lotus Absolute (a genuine, solvent-extracted aromatic concentrate) or, far more commonly, a synthetic fragrance analog made from lab-produced chemical constituents that mimic the scent of Blue Lotus.

EOW’s Blue Lotus Absolute is the real thing. When you see something labeled “Blue Lotus oil” selling for significantly under $10 per milliliter, it is almost certainly synthetic.

How can I tell if a Blue Lotus product is authentic or synthetic?
Price is the most reliable signal. Genuine Blue Lotus Absolute sourced directly from producers typically costs between $6 and $12 per milliliter — products offered for significantly less are almost certainly synthetic fragrance compounds, not true Blue Lotus Absolute.

A secondary test used by perfumers: apply a small amount to a scent strip and allow it to air out over several hours. Authentic Blue Lotus retains its layered floral, vanilla, and honey character as it dries down. Synthetic versions reveal a sharp, chemical-perfume note as the natural aromatic components evaporate off.

Which Blue Lotus product is the most potent?
Blue Lotus Resin is the strongest experience in EOW’s lineup. It is produced through a water-based extraction process — no solvents involved — that concentrates approximately 100 parts of dried Blue Lotus flower into a single part of resin. Dr. Nick Berry, EOW’s founder and a PharmD who has personally evaluated over 20 different Blue Lotus batches across formats and producers, describes it as the experience that hits the hardest and cleanest.
What does Blue Lotus feel like?
Blue Lotus is known for its calming, clarifying, and mildly euphoric character. Common experiences include a quieting of mental chatter, a heightened sense of present-moment awareness, subtly brighter sensory perception, and a soft inner bliss. It stacks well with meditation, breathwork, and other contemplative practices.

Intensity varies by format. The Resin delivers the most pronounced shift. The Tincture offers a subtler, more ceremonial experience with a rich flavor ritual. The Honey is primarily a flavor experience with gentle, soft qualities.

What makes EOW’s Blue Lotus Honey different from infused honey?
EOW’s Blue Lotus Honey is not infused — no Blue Lotus extract or oil is added to the honey at any point. It comes from beehives situated near the Blue Lotus ponds in Thailand, where the bees feed almost exclusively on Blue Lotus flower pollen. The natural vanilla, caramel, and floral notes of the plant express themselves organically through the bees’ diet and the honey they produce. This makes it a genuinely rare botanical food — a natural expression of the plant, not a flavored product.
How is the Blue Lotus Tincture made?
The Blue Lotus Tincture combines Blue Lotus Absolute with a craft organic honey spirits — a high-proof alcohol made by a small-batch beekeeper who ferments and distills his own harvested honey. The result is a pure, pristine tincture with a pronounced floral, vanilla, honey, and subtle apple note.

The recommended ritual: place a single drop on the tongue, then breathe in slowly through the mouth. The aromatic molecules absorb into the bloodstream through the lungs almost immediately for a fast-onset sensorial experience. Effects are subtler than the Resin — but rich in flavor and ceremony.
