Dr. Nick's Notes
Blue Lotus flower petals have been an ingredient in my tea collection for close to a decade. These precious flowers add a vibrational clarity, meditative focus and a delicious, yet gentle, flavor profile. Blue Lotus flowers are perfect for making Blue Lotus tea, herbal elixirs, concoctions, and enjoying Blue Lotus in it’s raw dried state.
Dried Blue Lotus flowers do not have the potency of our Blue Lotus Tincture, Blue Lotus Resin, Blue Lotus Absolute, yet have a nice everyday utility for enhancing life: floral tea, sacred bathing, home-made body oils, herbal smokes as a substitute for tobacco, or floral honey. These can be ingredients for hand-crafted potpourri (try adding in other essential oils) or your own body soaps. We are truly grateful for these precious Thai Blue Lotus flowers!
FAQs
Blue Lotus Flower is the dried whole flower petal format of Essential Oil Wizardry's flagship Blue Lotus line, sourced from the same family farm in Thailand that currently supplies the entire Blue Lotus collection. As the source material for every other product in the line, from the Absolute to the Resin, the dried flower represents the most accessible, everyday ritual format of Blue Lotus, intended for tea, infusions, sacred bathing, botanical smokes, and carrier oil infusions rather than concentrated topical or aromatic use. Because the same flowers feed the entire product line, choosing the Flower format offers a way to experience the plant closest to its natural, unprocessed state before any extraction takes place.
Dried Blue Lotus Flower petals are most commonly steeped as a tea, typically a few petals per cup of hot water, which is the traditional Egyptian and Southeast Asian method of experiencing the flower's calming, mildly euphoric qualities without any additional processing. The petals can also be added to a warm bath for a sacred bathing ritual reminiscent of ancient ceremonial use, smoked on their own or blended with other botanical smoking blends, or infused into a carrier oil over low heat to create a homemade Blue Lotus oil infusion for topical use, giving customers a flexible, low-cost way to explore multiple traditional preparation methods with a single bag of dried flower. Some people enjoy infusing the flower petals into honey, chocolate or making their own homemade potpourri. One traditional method is to infuse the flower petals into wine or alcohol and let its essence steep into the spirits, to extract their essence.
Blue Lotus Flower is the unprocessed, whole-petal format, while Blue Lotus Absolute is a solvent-extracted aromatic concentrate and Blue Lotus Resin is a water-extracted concentrate representing roughly one hundred grams of flower per gram of resin. The Flower format offers the gentlest, most accessible entry point into the Blue Lotus line, well suited for tea and ritual bathing, while the Absolute and Resin are intended for those seeking a more concentrated aromatic or experiential intensity for perfumery or deeper meditative work. Many customers start with the flower petals before exploring the more concentrated formats, using it as a way to become familiar with the plant's character before committing to a more potent extract.
Most Blue Lotus material sold online is either synthetic or of unclear origin, so authenticity is a genuine concern for buyers researching this plant. EOW's Blue Lotus Flower comes directly from a family farm in Thailand that Dr. Nick and his wife visit personally, and the same source flowers are used across the entire Blue Lotus product line, from the Flower itself through the Absolute, Resin, Tincture, and Honey. Because Blue Lotus Flower is the whole, minimally processed petal rather than a concentrated extract, its visual appearance, an intact dried blue-tinted petal, offers a straightforward way to confirm the material is genuine flower rather than a synthetic substitute masquerading as a natural extract. This is the natural plant material source for all of EOW's Blue Lotus product line.
Blue Lotus Flower tea has a mild, subtly floral flavor that carries some of the plant's characteristic honey and vanilla-adjacent notes found more intensely in the Absolute format, though considerably softer given the lower concentration in tea form. The experience of drinking the tea is generally described as gentle and calming rather than strongly euphoric, making it well suited for an evening wind-down ritual, meditation preparation, or simply a soothing warm beverage enjoyed on its own. Because the Flower format is less concentrated than the Resin or Tincture, its effects tend to build gradually rather than arrive quickly, making it a comfortable option for those newer to working with this plant.
