Dr. Nick Notes
African Copal Bark oil is a very precious, rare, precious & exotic extract. This botanical ingredient comes from a large deciduous tree found in the tropical areas of West Africa. The Copal Bark oil extract we provide comes from the bark of the Daniella oliveri, not the resin from the tree. This results in a full bodied expression of the essence of the Daniella oliveri tree.
My experience using this extract has been majorly focused on using the energetic & vibratory qualities of this plant for ceremonial purposes (ie. Crown, Positive Transmission). Used as a ceremonial perfume as a result of its spiritually uplifting and calming properties. When diffused into an environment it can purify the energy and set the tone for a sacred space. From an energetic perspective it seems to calm the nervous system, lift the spirits and attract more light / positive qualities around the user.
Our CO2 Extracted African Copal has also been a precious ingredient in our line of Exquisite Botanical Perfumes (ie. Desire). This African Copal Oil Extract delivers a rich base note, with mild woodiness and acts as a rich fixative in natural perfumery. African Copal Bark adds a complex sweetness, and a depth in botanical perfumery.
African Copal Bark extract has been traditionally used to reduce redness in irritated skin by lowering inflammation to bring about a soft, balanced skin tone. It also helps to speed recovery during infections of the skin, due to its antimicrobial properties. With ACB’s physical, energetic and aromatic qualities, it’s a wonderful ingredient for use in massage oils, skin creams, serums, and salves. Beneficial for rashes, minor cuts, scrapes, and the recovery of bug bites.
How to Use
Very little research about safety of African Copal Bark extract. Seems to have very little skin irritation, and seems to be well-received even on sensitive skin types when diluted. Not suggested for neat (undiluted) application.
