Dr. Nick Notes
Our Organic Coffee Essential Oil is a full-spectrum experience straight from the plantation to the bottle. This rich, earthy and invigorating Coffee CO2 Extract is truly rich and allows for interesting alchemy both for skin care and as a culinary tool. While I do not drink coffee as I am unusually sensitive to caffeine, this high quality Coffee Essential Oil seems to amplify the fragrance of a traditional coffee aroma carrying a complete spectrum of rich notes through single drops.
Wild deep coffee notes in botanical perfumery: Coffee Essential Oil plays well as a background note (very aromatically potent) with cocoa, vanilla, cardamom, citrus, vetiver, cedar and other earthy tones. A gourmet chef may see this as a flavor additive and for the true alchemist as a skin care ingredient. Coffee Essential oil seems to have a way with softening and revitalizing the skin. I've actually enjoyed layering my face with a small amount of coffee oil in the beginning of my day or before bed (may be stimulating). It's incredible to experience how quickly it softens the face and seems to create a subtle shine.
Try infusing a few drops of Coffee CO2 Extract into a diffuser to recreate a morning aroma of fresh coffee in the kitchen. Coffee can also be infused into the air as a room deodorizer. Infuse small amounts into the bath tub to tone the skin and uplift your day. As an essence alchemist, I enjoy having a bottle of Coffee Oil around, to cleanse my aromatic palette by clearing my sense of smell. Have fun playing with Coffee Essential Oil ~ Play well!

FAQs
Coffee CO2 Extract is produced from roasted coffee beans using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. What you get is a rich, complex aromatic concentrate that captures the full depth of roasted coffee aroma in a way that steam distillation simply cannot replicate. Coffee does not produce a usable steam-distilled essential oil, so the CO2 extraction method is the gold standard for capturing genuine coffee aroma in botanical form. The result is remarkably true to the experience of freshly roasted coffee.
Coffee CO2 smells like deeply roasted, complex dark coffee with all its characteristic richness, slight bitterness, and warm sweetness intact. It is an immediately evocative scent that produces an instinctive comfort response in most people. In natural perfumery, it functions as one of the most distinctive and recognizable gourmand or warm aromatic notes available, with a tenacity and depth that surprises many people given the lightness of the actual coffee beverage. Coffee CO2 serves as a great aromatic reset for your senses, for perfumers when they are evaluating ingredients and perfumes.
Coffee CO2 is used in aromatherapy primarily for its mood-brightening, energizing, and mentally stimulating properties. The aroma of coffee has been shown to increase alertness and improve cognitive performance in some studies. Beyond the energy association, many people find coffee's rich, warm aroma deeply comforting and grounding. It is a wonderful oil for creating a sense of warmth, familiarity, and mental clarity in a diffuser blend, particularly in the morning. Coffee CO2 can also yield a warming, stimulating sensation and is noted to be a beneficial ingredient for skin care formulations.
Coffee CO2 is a prized ingredient in natural perfumery for its ability to add a rich, warm, gourmand depth to compositions. It works particularly well in masculine-leaning blends, pairing beautifully with leather-adjacent materials, dark resins, and earthy base notes. Try it with vetiver, labdanum, cinnamon, patchouli, cedarwood, and vanilla for a complex, sophisticated aromatic accord. It also works surprisingly well in small amounts with lighter florals like jasmine, where it adds an unexpected warm, rich contrast. A little goes a long way as the aroma is intense.
Coffee CO2 can be incorporated into skin care formulas at low concentrations, typically 0.5 to 2 percent. It has antioxidant properties from its polyphenol content and has been used in natural skin care products for its ability to support a bright, energized complexion. In body scrub products, whole coffee grounds are popular for their exfoliating and cellulite-reducing reputation. For the CO2 extract in a skin care formula, combine it with carrier oils like jojoba and a small amount of vitamin E for a morning facial oil.
