Dr. Nick Notes

Blue Tansy essential oil is a unique extract that is relatively uncommon on the essential oil market - highly medicinal, with an exotic & inviting sweet floral aroma.  Of valuable mention is the potent anti-histamingeric properties Blue Tansy oil elicits ~ for allergy season, my personal formulation is a combination (50/50%) of Helichrysum & Blue Tansy (or German Chamomile) seems to greatly reduce seasonal rhinitis (allergies) symptoms for several hours by applying directly below the nostrils.

A powerful anti-inflammatory extract, Blue Tansy can be coupled into pain formulations, stress ointments.  Chamzulene (also found in steam distilled German Chamomile) is the molecule responsible for the dark blue tint and is produced during the distillation / heating process. Chamzulene has great anti-inflammatory and relaxant properties. The aromatic profile is quite unique and creates very intriguing medicinal botanical perfumes.

Blue tansy oil has a history of being used for asthma, eczema, bug bites, sunburn, and muscle aches. The aroma is mentally stimulating/cleansing while relaxing to the nervous system. Truly a unique botanical ingredient that is a valuable medicinal extract to keep in one’s medicine cabinet! This oil is fantastic in the world of botanical perfumery, emitting an aroma unlike any other botanical <3

How to Use

  • Add to a room diffuser using several drops, reduce seasonal allergenic effects & cleanse the environment while providing a calming atmosphere
  • Apply topically for pain, inflammation, or skin irritations
  • Experience a few drops in a hot bath with epsom salt for joint pain
  • For use as an anti-inflammatory or anti-histamine, massage into the skin – try 10% infused into a carrier such as almond, jojoba or coconut oil and avoid contact with clothing or risk permanent staining ~
  • Try 5% infusion into jojoba oil for a nourishing face serum, add in a bit of Rosehip Seed oil for the ultimate experience ever!
