Dr. Nick's Notes
Balsam Fir Absolute is an exquisite semi-solid, solvent extracted Absolute which expresses some of the most forest rich, candied essence in my entire Essential Oil Collection. A majority of people who are interested in purchasing a wide range collection of oils whom experience this extract, find great interest in Balsam Fir Absolute. The aroma profile is divine nectar, a candied forest expression ~ a concentrated essence of the balsam fir needles with a touch of caramel.
Balsam Fir Absolute (BFA) from Abies Balsamea is a less commonly available solvent extracted aromatic treat ~ BFA is perfumery grade synesthesia with every semi-solid drop and adds a mystical Elven Forest intrigue into any type of botanical aroma-therapeutic art. Bright balsamic hues dance with fruit fig tones amongst the tree tops of Gaia and very little of this material can bring a profound enhancement to any blend calling for deep forest essence. A sweet treat, Balsam Fir Absolute is one of my favorite secrets and can be found in our Seduction Perfume ~
Our Balsam Fir Absolute is only qualified to be used for aromatic purposes. Being solvent extracted, we cannot assure any micro levels of solvent have been removed. What I can share is I have both vaporized / dabbed a very small amount of this aromatic delight and found the experience to be life-affirming. The flavor profile is colorful forest fir tops with a balsamic glaze, both deep and profound. Effects seem to be calming to the nervous system while euphoric - a focused clarity of sweetness and inner-reflection ~ I share this experience as a reflection from many of our customer's experience in vaporizing / dabbing this extract. While I cannot suggest this method of usage, some healthy individuals will find this quite intriguing!
This is one of my favorite extracts on the planet! Please note that the anointing oil is much easier to work with and will be superior for most. For perfumers or individuals wanting to experiment with vaporizing Balsam Fir Absolute, the pure extract is the superior choice. Balsam Fir Absolute is a relatively challenging, very sticky material to work with and will take patience, heating and intention.
How to Use
- Add into your favorite collection of essential oils / perfumes at very small concentrations to invoke a deep, balsamic / sweet tree euphoria.

~ Forest Expression of Clarity ~

Frequently Asked Questions
Balsam fir absolute is produced from the resin of Abies balsamea, the balsam fir tree native to northeastern North America. The resin -- sometimes called Canada balsam -- seeps naturally from the bark and is collected with care. It is then processed through solvent extraction (ethanol) to produce the absolute, which captures the full, rich aromatic profile of the resin in a form suitable for perfumery and aromatherapy. Balsam fir absolute has a much more complex and resinous character than steam-distilled balsam fir needle oil, and is often a natural perfumer's favorite material.
Balsam fir absolute has a rich, sweet, deeply resinous aroma that evokes fresh-cut fir trees, pine forests, and the warmth of natural resin. It has more sweetness and depth than fir needle oil -- the balsamic, honey-like richness of the resin comes through beautifully. There is a clean forest quality alongside the resins warmth, creating a profile that feels both wild and comforting. Its one of those scents that triggers an immediate visceral response of being in a northern forest. The rich balsamic, honey-like depth with the soft, refreshing, coniferous top note makes this one a real crowd pleaser!
Balsam fir is a deeply grounding and cleansing oil in aromatherapy. Its forest-fresh character makes it excellent for clearing the air energetically and physically. Its used for respiratory support, particularly in winter months when the airways need extra care. The resinous warmth makes it ideal for grounding meditation practices and for creating a sense of connection to the natural world. Its also traditionally associated with strength and resilience -- properties of the fir tree that many practitioners draw on in their work. Some enjoy applying this to their third eye or pulse points for meditation, while others love wearing this for it's heavenly scent.
Balsam fir absolute is a prized ingredient in natural perfumery for its ability to add a rich, balsamic, forest-resin character that is very difficult to achieve otherwise. It functions as a base-to-middle note and blends beautifully with other forest and resin notes like pine, spruce, frankincense, and labdanum. For a winter holiday blend, pair it with clove, cinnamon, orange, and vanilla. For a deep forest accord, combine it with vetiver, patchouli, and cedarwood.
These are quite different products with different aromatic profiles. Balsam fir needle oil is steam distilled from the needles and small branches -- it is light, fresh, and piney with a clean forest character. Balsam fir absolute comes from the resin and is much richer, warmer, sweeter, and more complex -- it has a sweet, balsamic depth that the needle oil lacks entirely. The absolute is preferred in perfumery for its fixative properties and complexity, while the needle oil is more common in aromatherapy applications.

It’s wild how uplifted and rooted I can feel at the same time, and it happens every time I catch a whiff of this beautiful forest-y scent.

Actually my personal favorite, smells like marshmallows, clears the head chamber, reminds me of hubbly bubbly

While it is a little thick, you really don’t need much. The healing properties of this one are amazing. It can literally clear an entire room from spite proteins in no-time.
I use this in combination with some other helpful stuff like pine needle tincture, aqua florida and some other oils to clear myself, my kids and our home from the shedding of vaccinated people.
It helps vaccinated people too! People in my wife’s yoga classes (vaccinated) keep nagging about what the mix is she’s bringing. Since we started mixing it up with Balsam Fir Absolute we are all feeling so much better regardless of if people are shedding or not.
