Dr. Nick Notes
Tobacco Absolute Oil is a rich, pervasive botanical extract uncommon on the essential oil market. Primary purpose of this extract is a natural perfumery ingredient ~ The rich history of this planet is connected to indigenous cultures around the world from sacred plant medicine ceremonies to giving offerings to Great Spirit. When I shared time with respected indigenous shamans in the Amazon (ie. Herbert Quineros) I witnessed how tobacco is used in many rituals from medicine ceremony (Ayahuasca, Hape) and is used to strengthen one’s spiritual connection.
My father in his life was greatly connected to this plant and smoked tobacco a majority of his life - Tobacco Absolute reminds me of my connection with my father Dennis. Our Tobacco Absolute Essential Oil is a great ingredient for aromatic masculine colognes and also exudes a protective quality in energetic formulations. You can see some examples of this botanical alchemy in both our products Immersion, Essence of Wizard (my personal cologne formula) & Lion's Gate (tobacco beard oil). My favorite methods of using this extract are both as an ingredient for formulation AND applied directly to my wrist points as a grounding botanical perfume.
For those who have a history with tobacco use (ie. smoking tobacco, snuff, chewing tobacco or indigenous medicines Hape / Ambil) Tobacco Absolute Oil is quite appetizing. This extract provides a way of connecting with this sacred plant without the biological up / downs that ingesting tobacco can provide. I’ve heard an experience from those who have used cannabis habitually for years describe that growing the plant after discontinuing smoking provides a similar connection point to cannabis, where ingesting the plant / the biological changes become no longer necessary or desired. In this comparison, working with Tobacco Absolute can continue to foster a relationship with this plant, while minimize any harmful relationship (ie. smoking).
Please note, our Tobacco Absolute is Nicotine-Free and intended for aromatic purposes only. This is not intended to be a therapeutic aid, or used as nicotine replacement therapy. Our Tobacco Absolute extract has powerful grounding and energetic qualities, but is not intended to replace tobacco or nicotine therapy.

FAQs
Tobacco Absolute is a solvent-extracted aromatic concentrate of Nicotiana tabacum leaves, capturing the rich, complex, warm, and slightly sweet aromatic profile of cured tobacco without the combustion products associated with smoking. The absolute extraction preserves the full bouquet of tobacco's aromatic compounds including pyridine derivatives, megastigmatrienone, and terpenoids that give tobacco its distinctive scent character. It is used exclusively in perfumery and aromatherapy — not for smoking.
Tobacco Absolute is a prized base and heart note in natural perfumery, adding warmth, richness, leather-adjacent depth, and a sophisticated smoky-sweet character to botanical fragrances. It is commonly used in oriental, chypre, and fougère fragrance families and pairs beautifully with vanilla, tonka, labdanum, vetiver, oud, sandalwood, and spice absolutes. EOW's Tobacco Absolute is a professional-grade perfumery ingredient suitable for both amateur formulators and experienced perfumers.
Tobacco Absolute produced through solvent extraction may contain trace amounts of nicotine alongside the hundreds of aromatic compounds present in the plant. EOW's Tobacco Absolute is intended strictly for aromatic use in perfumery and botanical preparations — it is not a nicotine delivery product. Given the potential for trace nicotine content, avoid use on large surface areas of skin, keep away from children, and consult a healthcare provider if you have any sensitivities or cardiovascular concerns.
Note: Most of our Tobacco Absolute sourced is deemed “Nicotine-Free” by the manufacturer, as the Nicotine is removed from the Tobacco Absolute by the manufacturer. We are not testing each batch in-house, so be aware that this not intended to be a nicotine delivery product and we don’t expect nicotine to be left in this extract.
Tobacco Absolute is highly concentrated and tenacious — use it at low percentages (0.5–3%) in fragrance formulations to achieve depth without overwhelming the blend. It acts as a fixative, extending the longevity of lighter top and heart notes. For a classic accord, try combining EOW's Tobacco Absolute with Vanilla CO2, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, and a touch of jasmine absolute for a rich, woody-floral tobacco fragrance.
Tobacco absolute is primarily used in natural perfumery and aromatherapy. Its rich, warm, complex scent makes it a prized base note in high-end fragrance compositions. It's also used in massage blends and body oils where its deep, comforting aroma adds a sense of warmth and sophistication. Some people find its scent nostalgic and emotionally grounding. In the perfumery world, it's considered an essential ingredient for creating rich, leather-inspired, or oriental-style fragrances.
Tobacco absolute has a warm, sweet, slightly honeyed aroma with rich undertones of hay, cocoa, and dried fruit. It's nothing like the smell of cigarette smoke — think more along the lines of fresh, unburned tobacco leaves or the inside of a high-end cigar shop. The scent is deeply comforting, sophisticated, and complex, with a natural sweetness that evolves over time. It's one of those ingredients that tends to surprise people who expect something harsh but discover something elegant and inviting instead.
Not exactly. Tobacco absolute is produced through solvent extraction, which captures a broader range of the leaf's aromatic compounds compared to steam distillation. True steam-distilled tobacco essential oil is extremely rare and differs in its scent profile. The absolute method produces a richer, more complete representation of the tobacco leaf's natural fragrance, which is why it's preferred in perfumery. When you see "tobacco essential oil" on the market, it's almost always an absolute.
Tobacco absolute tends to evoke feelings of warmth, comfort, nostalgia, and groundedness. Many people find it deeply relaxing and emotionally centering — it's the aromatic equivalent of settling into a warm leather chair with a good book. In aromatherapy blending, it's often used to create a sense of safety, richness, and depth. Some practitioners use it to help clients feel more embodied and present. It pairs especially well with other warm, grounding oils to create blends that feel luxurious and enveloping.
Tobacco absolute is thick and concentrated, so it benefits from dilution in a carrier oil before use. Jojoba, fractionated coconut oil, and sweet almond oil are all excellent choices. For a body oil or massage blend, start with a 1-2% dilution (about 6-12 drops per ounce of carrier). For perfumery, you can work at higher concentrations depending on the blend, but tobacco absolute is potent enough that even small amounts make a significant impact. Warming the bottle slightly between your palms can help the thick absolute flow more easily for measuring.

I’m sure the produced oil is high quality, but it’s so thick that I can’t get it to come out of the bottle. So I keep having to remove the reducer to get at the oil. If you have any tips for me I’d be happy to hear them.
