Dr. Nick Notes

Black pine essential oil is quite interesting – spiritual, yet grounded. Energizing yet very calming as a generalized Central Nervous System adaptogen. Pine has been used in many commercial applications for cleaning as an aromatic disinfectant – think Pine Sol (Trademark). Terpenes in black pine oil are found to be anti-viral, anti-fungal & anti-bacterial. This oil is helpful to combat colds/flus during first onset (try 1 drop infused into 1 tsp of honey up-to 5x/day) and to help get the gunk out.

My favorite method of usage with black pine oil is through an essential oil vaporizer (ie. Essential VAAAPP) by warming one drop of pure essence and inhaling deep into the lungs. Opens the respiratory system, activates as an expectorant and is super clarifying to the mind. Black pine is also a treat in botanical perfumery. I've noticed that it carries many layers, starting piney, slightly woodly, unfolding into a gentle sweet and soft nutty fragrance. Very particular!

How to Use

Pine Essential oil may be infused into a foot bath using 1-3 drops in a bowl of water, to balance the senses and invigorate the self.
Try using 1 drop in an Essential VAAAPP to open & clear out the lungs.
Best pine essential oil for a diffuser, simply use as directed by your diffuser device (~10-20 drops for our EOW Raindrop Nebulizing Diffuser)
Experiment with 10-20% in a carrier oil and massage into the affected skin, scalp, neck or sore joints.
Try mixing into blood orange, alcohol & water to create an elevating aromatic disinfectant.
Can make a warm cup of pine tea infusing a single drop into 8-16 ounces of hot water. Infused 1-5 drops into a warm bath for a balancing experience. Use 1 drop in a tsp of honey for an anti-viral, balancing concentrate.

Precautions

Allergic reactions mirroring eczema may occur during topical use on allergy sensitive skin. Always skin patch test before topical application. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
