Dr. Nick Notes
In 2025, my wife and I took a trip to Thailand and we were fortunate enough to find a family who grows, processes and extracts beautiful flowers and medicinal herbs. During this journey, we visited the first blue lotus operation & extraction factory I've had the pleasure of touring. From seeing the rose plants, lotus pond, tasting their nectar-rich Blue Lotus & Rose Honey, I rose in love with the Thai vibration of aromatic flowers. While we were walking through their factory, I got to witness many hundreds (approaching thousands) of kilos of dried Blue Lotus flowers. In their fridge, was a precious material - a Blue Lotus Resin, a fine dark resin which contained some aromatic notes and concentrated medicinal components of Blue Lotus.
This has become one of my new favorites, though at the time of writing this I've only enjoyed it a handful of times.  Our Blue Lotus Resin is the most psychoactive form of Blue Lotus Extract I have found, and I trust the supplier and authenticity of this product. I was fortunate to walk the lands, see the harvesting pond, watch a Blue Lotus Absolute extraction process, and see the source plant material.
This Blue Lotus Resin yields the most potent psychoactive effects of Blue Lotus Extract, though I wouldn't prefer this form for botanical perfumery. I cannot recommend the appropriate dose; In the words of my Thai friends - start low and go slow. I've found a grain of rice to be a nice starting dosage, and have found a nice glow with 2-3x this amount as well. When I enjoy the Blue Lotus Resin, I find colors in my environment tend to intensify and feelings of bliss and levity are the predominant feelings. It's a non-linear, artistic feeling experience, perfect for making love with another and for enhancing meditation and creativity.
The effects on my consciousness and body are calming, unifying & centering - this enhances the mood, clears the mind and strengthens connection to Source.
Each gram of this Blue Lotus Resin goes a long way, and should be treasured/respected. This is an ultra-concentrated resin taking approximately 100 grams of Blue Lotus Flowers in each gram of resin, also known as 100x Extract. I have only experienced this ingested directly, though it may be interesting infused into wine (ie. Ancient traditional usage is the flowers steeped into wine or alcohol) or added into water or your favorite tea. I have yet to vaporize this material, but I may try this sometime to see the effect!
Suggested Uses
Blue Lotus is widely known as a natural aphrodisiac. Can be used for meditation, creativity, producing art or enhancement of sexual desire, mood, feelings of ecstasy. Blue Lotus Resin is a wonderful meditation aid, opening chakras (specifically the third eye), aiding one on their spiritual path. Dispels negative emotions and thoughts.
Resin vs Extract Powder
The Blue Lotus Resin is further dehydrated and powdered to produce a 100x extract powder. The powder can be easier to use for people to add into warm teas, beverages or water to minimize any flavor, rather than directly ingesting. Each product should have similar potency, with slightly different experiences for ingestion.
How to Use
- 1 (rice-sized) dab taken directly in the mouth
- 1 dab burned on incense
- Infused into wine/spirits (traditional use)
- Steeped and sipped in hot water or herbal tea
History
In Ancient Egypt, Blue Lotus was a symbol of sexuality and was said to promote sexual desire, euphoria, and ecstasy. It is also believed that this entheogen played a big role in the meditative and spiritual rituals of the Egyptians, the Mayans, and many other ancient peoples.
The Blue Lotus was also known in Egypt as a symbol of the universe, fertility, and sexuality. The lotus flower is symbology for the crown chakra. It is prominently represented in ancient Egyptian art. The Blue Lotus was found scattered over Tutankhamen's body when the Pharaoh's tomb was opened in 1922.
Many historians thought it was a purely symbolic flower, but there may be some reason to believe that Egyptians used it to induce an ecstatic state, stimulation, and hallucinations, in addition to its wide use as a general remedy against illness. When Nymphaea caerulea is smoked or drunk after being soaked in water or wine, it acted as an intoxicant. The Blue Lotus contains Aporphine, apomorphine (which is a dopamine agonist), and nuciferine which has antispasmodic properties. The Blue Lotus flower was considered to be a magical, sacred flower and it appears as a common motif in numerous ancient Egyptian paintings.

Pregnant women and nursing mothers should avoid Blue Lotus Resin during their pregnancy. Should not be given to children or infants. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery or undertake dangerous tasks when elevated by Blue Lotus Resin.

FAQs
Blue Lotus Resin is an ultra-concentrated extract made from the flowers of Nymphaea caerulea. EOW's resin is a 100x extract, meaning approximately 100 grams of raw Blue Lotus flowers are refined down into a single gram of resin. This slow, careful water extraction process preserves the flower's psychoactive and therapeutic compounds in a highly potent form. Dr. Nick sourced this resin directly from a family operation in Thailand, where he personally toured the Blue Lotus growing ponds and extraction facility. This resin doesn't use any solvents other than water, and is an ultra pure & potent extract!
There are several ways to enjoy Blue Lotus Resin. Dr. Nick recommends starting with a single grain-of-rice-sized dab taken directly in the mouth. You can also dissolve a small amount into warm tea, water, or your favorite herbal beverage. For a slightly stronger experience, one can work up to 1-2 pea-sized dabs, and can be redosed each 1-2 hours as desired. Some people follow the ancient Egyptian tradition of infusing it into wine or spirits. The resin may also be burned as incense for a fragrant, meditative atmosphere. Start low and go slow — this is a concentrated product and a little goes a long way.
The key difference is in how they're used and what they're optimized for. Blue Lotus Resin is a 100x concentrated extract designed primarily for internal or ceremonial use — you take it by mouth, dissolve it in tea or wine, or burn it as incense. The experience is more about the flower's psychoactive and meditative properties. Blue Lotus Absolute, on the other hand, is an aromatic extract designed for perfumery, aromatherapy, massage, and diffusion. The Absolute captures the full aromatic profile while the Resin concentrates the flower's embodied, psychoactive essence.
Many people describe Blue Lotus Resin as producing a gentle, dreamy state of relaxation with a soft sense of euphoria. The experience is clear, colors might be experienced as intensified and the mind becomes more lucid and present. The effects are often described as mildly psychoactive — a warm, floaty, uplifting feeling without any body dysphoria or addictive qualities. It's commonly used as an aid for meditation, creative work, and spiritual practice. The resin is considered the most psychoactive form of Blue Lotus extract available. Effects and intensity vary from person to person, so starting with a small amount is always recommended.
Dr. Nick recommends starting with a grain-of-rice-sized amount and working your way up from there. Many people find a pleasant experience with two to three times that initial dose. Because this is a 100x extract, each gram goes a long way and should be treated with respect. Everyone responds differently, so the best approach is to start small, give it time to take effect, and gradually find the amount that feels right for you.
While some people do vaporize Blue Lotus Resin, the solid structure of the resin makes it less convenient for vaping compared to other methods. If you choose to vaporize, use a vaporizer designed for concentrates with temperature control — the ideal temperature range is around 100-125°C. That said, the most popular and recommended methods are direct oral ingestion, dissolving in tea or warm beverages, or burning as incense. While our founder hasn't had profound experiences with vaporizing the resin, some of our community members swear this is their favorite application for the resins.
Blue Lotus has been used for spiritual and meditative purposes for thousands of years, dating back to ancient Egypt. While many people describe the experience of Blue Lotus to be subtle, the resin form concentrates these properties into a potent format. Many practitioners use it before meditation to help open the chakras — particularly the third eye — and to quiet the mind. It's known for helping dispel negative emotions and thoughts, making it easier to settle into deeper states of awareness. Whether used ceremonially, in personal practice, during or simply as a way to create more intentional, present moments, the resin offers a grounded connection to the flower's ancient wisdom.
They come from the same source but are in different forms. EOW's Blue Lotus Resin is a dark, sticky resin produced through the 100x extraction process. The resin can be further dehydrated and powdered to produce a 100x extract powder. The powder form can be easier to work with for some people — it dissolves more readily into teas and beverages and is simpler to measure. Both forms should have similar potency, with slightly different experiences during ingestion.
