Dr. Nick Notes

Ylang-Ylang essential oil is a ridiculous treat and one of my favorite essential oils to work with. Soft energy with a mild warming & sweet nectar appeal. Ylang-Ylang oil is great for meditation, relaxation, opening up the heart and said to settle jealousy issues. Mood elevating and a powerful aphrodisiac - I find that when I drink 1-2 drops of ylang ylang oil infused into 16 ounces of water, 1-3x/day for 2-3 days, my sex drive subjectively increases about 50%.  With a strong sexual baseline or without an appropriate outlet to channel sexual energy, the potency can get overwhelming!

Commonly, I receive pleasurable responses to this oil both immediately and after reports with time - the essence creates a phenomenal soda when added to carbonated water and ylang ylang essential oil infuses well into water ("Horny Water") at appropriate dilutions. Vaporized, Ylang Ylang extract excites calmly and tantalizes taste buds. The strong floral fragrance may be overpowering to sensitive individuals - for those who love it, infuse a few drops into a diffuser to create a warm, playful environment.  Ylang Ylang oil is wonderful for reducing stress and adding playfulness to life!

Ylang Ylang is an eclectic flower that is very potent and requires some skill to effectively blend.  Works well in soaps, candles, diffusers and other cleaning products at low concentration - experiment with 2-5% in blends.  Great for soothing the nerves and adding a sassy spice to other essences.  Botanical perfumery with Ylang Ylang essential oil rocks!

This is a fractionally distilled oil which means the distillation is fragmented by different times for the extraction process - "Extra, 1, 2, 3, 4 and Complete". "Extra" carries most of the light & "fluffy" aromatic compounds, as it's the first portion of the flower released with lower volatization points - followed by 1, 2, 3, 4. "Complete" is a recombination of all the individual fractions to give a delicious full-spectrum representation of the oil. "2" is the third fraction separated and carries a slightly more mild balance of the aromatics compared to "Extra".

My personal favorite is the oh-so-sexy Ylang Ylang "Extra", followed by "Complete" for generalized therapeutic aromatherapy.  I will not carry other Ylang Ylang extracts besides Ylang Ylang Extra or Ylang Ylang Complete which can both be viewed as the highest quality Ylang Ylang extracts (lightest / fruitest & most full-spectrum, respectably) which each vary slightly in their characteristics.

How to Use

Use 10% concentration and massage into temples for a headache or high level of stress. Take a bath with ylang ylang essential oil using 3-5 drops for a sensual, playful experience – wonderful aphrodisiac! Use several drops in a diffuser to warm/sexify a room. Also plenty of fun to drop on candle & flame.

Ylang ylang oil is fun in botanical perfumery – experiment with 5-10% for final blends! Works great added to soaps, body care products at similar concentrations. Try experimenting very low concentration in foods, desserts and beverages! If you are using on the body, use about 2-5% - especially if sensitive!

Precautions

Undiluted use may cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals. Very strong smell – have this awareness when mixing / wearing ylang ylang.

One of the most mysterious ones I have tried. Not a fan of floral scents at all but this one has intense mystical mystery that just leaves me wanting to know more. Its a crazy one and definitely alive.
