Dr. Nick Notes

Mullein plants grow tall and develop furry green / silver leaves soft as bunny ears.  This biennial plant takes two years for it’s full maturation and has leaves so hefty and soft, Mullein leaves are touted to be a natural toilet paper found in the wild ~ Flowering tops and leaves may be used in the Mullein tincture decoction, while seeds / roots may also be prepared for topical application.

Mullein offers a deep strength and physical support in the body, helping to coat / soothe the lungs & calm an inflamed throat.  Our Mullein extract was originally inspired by the intense Almeda Fires which originated down the street from our lab in Ashland, Oregon (Sept 2020).

There’s a mild general well-being quality I experience when using our Ultrasonic Mullein Tincture ~ when using our Ultrasonic Mullein Tincture, I feel my throat ease up and a slippery coating sensation protects my upper respiratory tract.  My lungs feel less resistance upon breathing in.  I can compare the experience similar to Slippery Elm or Marshmellow Root / Leaf tea - a light coating and soothing for the lungs / throat.  The expectorant qualities are very subtle and the plant seems mild mucolytic properties as well, that align with the soothing experience.

When I consume this precious tincture, I still feel surprised at how effective I find this to be.  Symptomatically, very helpful for sore throats, irritated lungs from smoke or other irritants.  While Ultrasonic Mullein Tincture is quite gentle on the body, the effects are quite impressive and powerfully soothing.

How to Use

We find for our Ultrasonic Extract Tinctures, sublingual (under the tongue) absorption held for 30-60 seconds, leads to better subjective absorption / effects.

Here’s How We In-Joy Ultrasonic Mullein Tincture:

  • ¼ dropper to 1 dropperful used to aid with sensitive / irritated throat or lungs.
  • Infuse ¼ - 1 dropperful into a warm cup of herbal tea or infuse into water to drink.  Try adding with honey or your favorite natural sweetener.

I love this tincture. I have found that for loved ones 1/2 of a dropper full provides a very speedy and quite amazing relief to symptoms of the throat and lungs associated with respiratory flu. And for my personal use 1/4 to 1/2 of a dropper full has been great for protection and as a preventative, improving breathing (especially when doing intense exercise outside in cold weather), and mildly boosting mood and emotional wellbeing.
