Dr. Nick Notes

Tea Tree essence is one of the most common essential oils in everyone's home essential oil tool-kit. Inexpensive with potent anti-bacterial, anti-fungal properties, also clinically shown to elevate white blood cell count, thereby stimulating the immune system. Tea tree is very gentle on the skin, in fact is one of the few essential oils recommended to use neat (undiluted). As a child I used a commercially available tea tree (with added chemicals of course) shampoo & conditioner which I LOVED. Tea Tree is also effective for acne and is being more available in commercially available skin-care and mouthwash products.

Tea tree is quite stimulating, uplifting, refreshing and medicinal. Applied to the scalp it percolates the hair follicles with awareness and is helpful for dandruff. Try using a few mL of tea tree to supplement your laundry's next level clean for it's anti-septic properties. Massage into the chest to ease congestion and aid in opening the lungs and getting out mucous. During times of high mucous or onset of respiratory infection, one can pour several drops of tea tree on the hands, rub the hands together, cup the hands over the mouth and deeply inhale through the mouth.

I've heard personal reports from women infusing a few drops of tea tree into a capsule or 16 ounces of water for urinary tract infections (UTIs). Great to add into water with some citrus essential oil for an effective anti-microbial room sanitizer (or hand cleanser). Tea tree is also rather effective in combination with other anti-fungal essential oils to aid with candida overgrowth or topical infection. Great results have been observed in combination with Rose-Geranium, Peppermint, Cedar Atlas, Lemon, Cassia, Cinnamon Leaf and other anti-fungal extracts.

How to Use

Apply topically neat for wound, burn, bug bite as needed. Infuse several drops into a diffuser with 20-30% lemon essential oil to uplift and cleanse a room. Put 1-2 drops in one ounce of water for an easy travel mouthwash. Mix with lavender essential oil and apply directly to acne – works well! Apply topically 3-4x/day for topical fungal infection as a supplemental treatment.

Take 1-4 drops internally in a capsule for recurring UTIs. May take every 2-4 hours until symptoms have cleared, and ingest no longer than 72 hours. Stop usage if not improving by the end of day one. Add 1/2 tsp. into laundry detergent to get next level funk fighting power. Can infuse into laundry detergent for medicinal smell and increased anti-microbial benefits.

Precautions

Skin patch test before applying onto skin. In rare cases, tea tree may be irritating on sensitive individuals.

An oil everyone needs. It’s quality, you can tell. I have used it on a couple small zits. They shrunk and were no longer there after just one drop each day for two days. It’s just a testament to an oil that works well and everyone needs.
